Dramatis Personae

One of the reasons I began writing a blog was to consolidate my letters home; my original readers – my family and friends back in the UK – won’t need this section. However, I am fortunate that a few strangers have chosen to drop by, and it would be inhospitable of me not to provide some background to the names that I so carelessly fling into my jottings.

Don’t expect any lurid details here; I must respect the privacy of my friends and colleagues. This is just a quick reference to provide some context.

Me: Information security and risk management consultant and small business owner, director and manager. Gweilo of the British variety.

David: Co-director, useful technical manager, and friend. Another denizen of Tung Chung. Allegedly British, but has been in HK for most of his life.

Lucy: David’s wife.

Hugo; Freddie: David’s spawn.

Connie: Friend, ex-employee (from many years ago), and… oh, it’s too complicated to explain the rest. Local Cantonese girl.

Simon: Oldest chum, since long before university. Lives in Sweden.

Claire: Sister; slightly younger although more sensible. Still in England. Does not travel, in case there be spiders.

I believe these are the only people mentioned by name (and without explanation) so far. I’ll update if necessary.
